Lyon–Ethiopia: a Long-Awaited Connection, Now Brought to Fruition
The Association France Éthiopie Corne de l’Afrique warmly welcomes the fruition of a project it has supported and accompanied for many years: the forthcoming opening of a new air connection between Ethiopia and the Lyon metropolitan area.
The announcement of a regular service by Ethiopian Airlines, scheduled to commence in July 2026 to Lyon via Geneva, marks a significant étape in the consolidation of exchanges between France, Ethiopia, and the Horn of Africa.
This project fully aligns with the long-standing vision championed by the Association, rooted in the conviction that direct connectivity is a strategic levier for enhancing mobility, fostering economic, cultural and academic échanges, and strengthening the liens between diasporas.
Through the leadership of its President, Shoki Ali Said, the Association France Éthiopie Corne de l’Afrique has been a constant and steadfast soutien to this initiative, working with patience, constance and conviction toward its realization.
The commissioning of this new route now stands as a collective réussite and a source of shared fierté. It exemplifies the value of sustained engagement grounded in dialogue, coopération équilibrée and mutual confiance. The Association hails this development as a gateway to renewed opportunities for territories, institutions and communities alike, and reaffirms its full commitment to accompanying the positive dynamiques it sets in motion.
